As winter weather brings snow and ice, it’s more important than ever to ensure that fire hydrants remain visible and accessible. In the event of an emergency, a buried hydrant can delay firefighting efforts and put lives at risk.
How You Can Help: We encourage residents to clear snow and ice around fire hydrants near their property. A clear hydrant can make all the difference in a time-critical situation.
Here’s what you can do:
Shovel a 3-foot perimeter around the hydrant.
Clear the top of the hydrant of snow and ice to ensure it’s visible.
Create a clear path from the hydrant to the street so that firefighters can quickly access it.
Why It’s Important: Every second counts in an emergency.
Clearing hydrants helps our firefighters respond quickly.
It prevents hydrants from freezing, which could make them inoperable when needed most.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe. A few minutes of your time can help save lives.
Thank you for your support and for helping keep our neighborhoods safe!
